Our client, a young family with baby on the way, purchased a ‘fixer-up’ rancher-style home that needed a full renovation. Working within a tight budget and with the clock ticking, we achieved a beautiful, livable space within the existing footprint on-time and on-budget.
The entire home was completely gutted and re-configured within the exterior walls. We created a spacious open concept great-room by replacing small chopped-up rooms. The biggest change resulted from removing the trusses and vaulting the ceiling from within, dramatically opening up the vertical, visual space.
The bedrooms were relocated to the front which allowed for full open space across the back. The previously cramped kitchen has been transformed into a functional, inviting space. This modern fully-functioning kitchen now opens into the family room providing the perfect setting for small or large gatherings.
The installation of warm-toned wide-plank oak hardwood throughout unites the space. The home is filled with light via the wall of glass, well-placed pot lights and unique pendants. An old unsafe wood-fireplace was removed creating space for a unique and convenient office alcove. The bathroom, laundry, and mechanical rooms were relocated achieving much-improved functionality. Three huge French doors maximize the enjoyment of their patio and wooded backyard. By keeping the bathroom and closet ceilings at regular height, we created over 300 square feet of finished upper-space for unique hidden storage. This award-winning renovation created the perfect new home for this family.
